Jamaica — An elderly man has died following a house fire in Mandeville, Manchester, on Tuesday afternoon.
He has been identified as Ronald West, 74, of Balvenie Heights, Mandeville.
Manchester Fire Chief Superintendent Rohan Powell said firefighters responded to the structure fire just after midday.
“We were called to a report of a structure fire at approximately 12:19 p.m. Three fire engines were dispatched. Upon arrival on scene, we observed the home was fully engaged in fire. Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire and contained it. During cooling operations, we discovered what appeared to be human remains inside the home,” Powell said.
“At this time, investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the fire,” he added.
