The life of a man was snuffed out in a brazen gun attack at the Savanna la-Mar bus park, Westmoreland, on Friday October 18,2024, pushing the parish’s murder figure to 82.
The victim has been identified by the police as 34-year-old vendor, Chris Green, otherwise called ‘Dudus’, of Barracks Road District, Westmoreland.
Detectives assigned to the Westmoreland Division who have launched an intensive probe into the daring daylight killing reports that about 3 p.m. on Friday, Green was at his stall in the Savanna la-Mar bus Park, when he was approached by a lone man who was armed with a handgun.
A heated argument reportedly started between both men, then the gunman opened fire at Green, hitting him all over his body.
Commuters screamed and ran for cover as the man is said to have boarded a bike being driven by another man and fled the scene. The police were alerted and Green was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Green’s death triggered an outpouring of grief as many said he was an easygoing person who did not get into trouble and are appalled as to why anyone would want to kill him.
“He was a hustler, he would go about and sell whatsoever was available to ensure that he earned. “He did not do anything illegal,” one concerned woman said.
The police also indicated that while Green had the famous alias based on their investigations, he had no criminal record.
