A November 27 trial date has been set for Denese Adams, the vendor who was caught in a viral video urinating into a container and then pouring it into a bottle at the Charles Gordon Market in Montego Bay. Adams pleaded not guilty to four different charges under the public health regulations when she previously appeared in the St James Parish Court on September 25.
On the previous mention date, it was disclosed that attorney Henry McCurdy, who is representing Adams, needed additional time to thoroughly examine several statements pertaining to the case. However, when the case was called up for mention on Wednesday before presiding judge Nateshia Fairclough-Hylton, Adams’ legal counsel was not present, and attorney Maurice McCurdy stood in on his behalf.
A trial date was subsequently set for November 27, and Adams, who was summoned to attend the court sitting, was bound over by Judge Fairclough-Hylton.
The vendor was charged earlier last month under the regulations relating to the protection of food from contamination and holding a valid food handler’s permit. According to reports, a passing motorist video-recorded Adams urinating into a container and then pouring the urine into a bottle while sitting in a motor vehicle outside the Charles Gordon Market, where she was selling fruits and ground provisions. The footage subsequently went viral on social media.
The St James Health Department later declared that Adams, whose food handler’s permit had expired in 2021, would not be allowed to continue plying her trade.
