CLARENDON, JAMAICA — A 33-year-old man, suspected to be Kenroy Simpson of Capture Land in Lionel Town, Clarendon, was found dead following a fire that destroyed his one-bedroom wooden home early Saturday morning.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze around 3:50 a.m. The house was completely engulfed by the time emergency crews arrived, and it was reduced to ashes.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the charred remains of a man near the front door of the residence. The victim’s right hand appeared to be broken, and a machete was found next to the body. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, but there was evidence of possible ignition material at the scene.
The police are currently investigating the incident. They have confirmed that no one else was present in the home at the time the fire started. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze and the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
