Jamaican Athlete Rushell Clayton Joins Grand Slam Track
Jamaican athlete Rushell Clayton has been added to the list of athletes set to participate in the inaugural Grand Slam Track, scheduled to begin in 2025. Clayton joins fellow Jamaicans Ackera Nugent and Roshawn Clarke, who were signed last week.
Clayton is known for being the second-fastest Jamaican of all time in the 400m hurdles, and she was also the first Jamaican since 2011 to break the 53-second barrier in the event. Her most recent achievement was placing fifth in the 400m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
“I’ve worked so hard to get to this point and I’m ready to give Grand Slam Track my all in every single race,” said Clayton. “I’m focused and ready to be part of making history. This is just the beginning.”
Grand Slam Track is a professional track league, similar to the Diamond League, that aims to promote match-ups between the fastest stars in the sport. The league will host four meets between April and September, with 48 athletes named as Grand Slam Track racers each year.
In addition to Clayton, several other talented athletes have been announced for the upcoming year, including Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Melissa Jefferson, Masai Russell, Quincy Hall, Fred Kerley, Kenny Bednarek, and more.
With the addition of Rushell Clayton to the roster, excitement is building for the start of the Grand Slam Track league in 2025. Fans can expect thrilling competitions and record-breaking performances from some of the world’s best track and field athletes.
