Hillel Academy Triumphs in Youth Football League Junior Cup U-11 Championship
Former Reggae Boyz defender Ian Goodison had the honor of presenting the Youth Football League (YFL) Junior Cup Under-11 championship trophy to the victorious Hillel Academy team after their thrilling victory over Lannaman’s Prep in the final at Constant Spring field on Saturday.
In a highly anticipated all-island final, Hillel Academy emerged as the surprise champions, defeating the favored Lannaman’s Prep team in a tense battle that went down to sudden death penalties. The journey to the final saw twelve top local preparatory and primary schools compete in the YFL All-Island Finals, with Lannaman’s Prep and Hillel Academy emerging as the standout teams.
The final match was a test of mettle and determination, with both teams giving their all on the field. Despite Lannaman’s Prep creating more chances, it was Hillel Academy that struck first with a stunning goal from winger Nugent Walker. Lannaman’s managed to equalize through Rushawn Edwards, leading to a deadlock that could only be broken by penalties.
