Kingston, Jamaica — On August 23, 2024, the Kingston Western police have filed additional gang-related charges against a 19-year-old man, who was previously arrested for murder and firearm-related offences.
Rohan Tomlinson, known in his community as ‘Popsie,’ of Bentley Lane, Kingston 13, has been charged with being a member of a criminal organisation and participating in the activities of said organisation. Tomlinson is alleged to be an active member of the Bentley Lane Gang, which operates out of Rose Town, Kingston 13.
Investigations by the police indicate that Tomlinson has been deeply involved in the gang’s activities. Authorities claim he regularly attended gang meetings and was instrumental in the planning and execution of various crimes. One notable incident involves the murder of Marlon Johnson, also known as ‘Mega,’ who was fatally shot on May 17, 2024, on Lamont Lane in Rose Town. Tomlinson was directly implicated and subsequently charged with Johnson’s murder earlier this week.
The internal strife within the Bentley Lane Gang has reportedly intensified, with some members holding Tomlinson responsible for losing one of their firearms. This dissension within the gang underscores the volatile nature of these criminal affiliations.
Although Tomlinson faces new charges related to gang activity, no court date has been set for these accusations as of yet.
The ongoing investigation and subsequent charges highlight the police’s effort to dismantle gang operations within Kingston, particularly in areas such as Rose Town, which have been plagued by criminal activities.
