After two attempts, Tahje Bennett has finally claimed the coveted title of Miss Jamaica World 2024. The 25-year-old from Spanish Town impressed judges and audience members alike with her grace, poise, and dedication to advocacy during the grand coronation show at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel ballroom in New Kingston.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Bennett shared that she made the necessary improvements to secure the crown on her second try. She refined her advocacy, showed up as her best self every single time, and remained true to who she is. These efforts paid off as she was crowned the new queen and will now represent Jamaica at the 72nd Miss World pageant.
Alongside Bennett, Jamila McGowan claimed the first runner-up position, while Shanelle Kellyman took the second runner-up spot. Bennett also excelled in various fast track challenges, winning the Beauty with a Purpose and Multimedia awards. She placed in the top three of the Beach Beauty, Top Model, and Sports/Fitness categories.
Using her platform to advocate for females who have been victims of gender-based violence, Bennett aims to empower and uplift young women and girls who may be facing challenges. She wants to show that a sad story does not have to be the end of one’s journey, but rather a powerful message to inspire others.
The atmosphere at the grand coronation show was filled with jubilation as parents, friends, and well-wishers cheered on the contestants. Even those who did not advance to the top 10 received support and encouragement from the audience. Entertainment provided by Jodian Pantry and Remone Watson added to the celebratory mood of the night.
Bennett expressed her gratitude to her primary matriarchal figures—the women who have shaped her into the person she is today. She credits her success to her grandmother and mother, who have been instrumental in her journey to becoming Miss Jamaica World 2024.
As Tahje Bennett prepares to embark on her Miss World journey, she carries with her the support and well wishes of her community and the nation of Jamaica. Her dedication to advocacy and empowerment makes her a deserving queen, ready to represent her country on the international stage.
