St. James, Jamaica – The body of a man retrieved from a river near the Irwin bypass road, currently under construction, is suspected to be linked to the recent escape from Lucea Prison.
The deceased, found by police and firefighters on Monday, is believed to have been shot sometime between Sunday night and early Monday morning. Police sources suggest that the man may be one of the two individuals who escaped from custody early on Sunday. The other escapee was reportedly apprehended and remanded in custody on the same day.

While the police have yet to officially confirm the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding the discovery—at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Monday—have led authorities to believe it is related to the prison break.
The body was discovered by a resident, who contacted police. Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of his death.
