ST JAMES, Jamaica — The St James Police have charged a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of Randy McNeil, a shop operator, which took place in New Road, Flanker, St James on Saturday, April 27th.
The deceased, Randy McNeil, was a 28-year-old resident of Providence Heights in Flanker. The accused, Joseph McKenzie, also known as ‘Geo,’ resides on Second Avenue in the same community.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 11:15 am. McNeil was walking on the roadway when McKenzie, armed with a firearm, allegedly accosted and shot him multiple times. McNeil was subsequently rushed to the hospital by law enforcement but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following an extensive investigation, McKenzie was apprehended on Sunday, August 25th, around 9:00 pm at Harvey Beach, St James. In addition to being charged with McNeil’s murder, McKenzie faces charges of using a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a prohibited weapon.
McKenzie’s arrest came after a thorough question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney. His court date has not yet been determined.
