St Andrew, Jamaica – A dramatic confrontation in the tranquil neighborhood of Blue Mountain, Red Hills, in St Andrew has led to a tragic loss and serious legal repercussions. Fitzroy Taylor, a 29-year-old mason, has been charged with the murder of 36-year-old welder Marlon Newsome, following a deadly altercation.
The incident occurred early in the morning, around 7:00 am, at Newsome’s residence. Reports indicate that Newsome was outside on his verandah when an argument erupted between him and Taylor. The quarrel escalated rapidly, culminating in Taylor allegedly using a firearm to shoot Newsome multiple times.
Authorities were notified promptly, and Newsome was transported to a hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead. In the aftermath, police launched an investigation that led to Taylor’s arrest.
Taylor, who is also known by the alias ‘Kenroy’, faces multiple charges beyond murder. He has been charged with using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition. These serious allegations are compounded by the gravity of his alleged actions resulting in Newsome’s death.
On Friday, August 23, Taylor underwent a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney, subsequently leading to the formalization of charges against him. As of now, a court date for Taylor’s trial has not been set.
This incident has cast a somber light on the Blue Mountain community, shaking the residents with the reality of violence that disrupted their peace. The legal proceedings to follow will be closely monitored as the community and the broader public seek justice for Newsome.
