Sri Lanka Looks to Level T20 Series Against West Indies
In the second Twenty20 international cricket match between Sri Lanka and West Indies at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat as they aimed to level the series against the West Indies. The West Indies currently lead the three-match series 1-0 after a convincing five-wicket victory in the previous match.
Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka emphasized the importance of their batters stepping up and contributing to the team’s success, stating, “We need a couple of batters to get big scores and others to chip in. We expect the spinners to play a big role.” Sri Lanka, currently ranked eighth in the ICC T20 rankings, is looking to put up a strong performance in order to compete with the third-ranked West Indies.
West Indies Captain Rovman Powell expressed confidence in his team’s ability to chase a target, saying, “We are happy to chase. It is just a case of us playing good cricket to put the opposition under pressure.” With the final T20 match against the West Indies scheduled for Thursday at the same venue, both teams are gearing up for an intense battle on the field.
