KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dancehall queen Spice says working with veteran rapper Busta Rhymes was a humbling experience. The DJ collaborated with Busta on “Round Round,” the first single from his upcoming third studio album, “Mirror 25,” due for release on August 9.
“Round Round” was a hit with fans when it debuted onstage in Jamaica on Saturday night, and the official video, released two weeks ago, has since garnered over one million views on YouTube.
“Working with Busta is amazing. Busta is an icon and a legend. I know he took time out of his busy schedule and is on tour right now to deliver this song and even walked me through his writing process. It’s just humbling to know that someone of his stature has been able to support another thing for the culture. Busta is the boss and a legend, wow,” Spice told Observer Online shortly after crushing the stage at Current Fest at Mona Hockey Field on Saturday night.
This is Spice’s second collaboration with Busta Rhymes, having been featured on the remix of her 2014 hit “So Mi Like It.”
Current Fest delivered on everything it promised its audience: a great time was had by all: paint, water, atmosphere, exhilaration, and music.
With a line-up of A-list DJs and guest appearances from chart-topper Armani and Trinidadian soca princess Nyla Blackman, Current Fest had the formula for a win-win.
“My new album will also feature a collaboration with Chronic Law called ‘Gangsta,’ which will be released this week so keep an eye out,” Spice said.
Mirror 25 condenses Spice’s 25 years in the music industry and, while she is cautious about revealing details, she hints that fans will enjoy the music.
“Everyone please support this album. I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary and 25 years is a big thing. I’m excited that people are still talking about it after 25 years,” she revealed.
