Sandals Resorts continues to lead the way in environmental stewardship, with Sandals South Coast Resort and Sandals and Beach Resort in Negril recently hosting seminars focused on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) best practices.
The one-day seminar brought together the resort’s Earth Guardian team members, who support community development on an environmental and health level, to discuss emerging trends and innovative solutions to promote sustainability and ensure the well-being of guests, staff and their respective communities.
Participants had the opportunity to take part in interactive discussions and activities on a range of topics, including adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures, first aid for choking, resource conservation, recycling and upcycling, highlighting innovative approaches to waste reduction.
The seminar also showcased Sandals South Coast’s sustainability and safety initiatives, highlighting efforts such as the resort’s bailer units, herb gardens, reclaimed water facility and many other eco-friendly initiatives and comprehensive safety protocols.
Additionally, participants explored practical solutions to maximize operational efficiency while minimizing the environmental impact to their respective resorts.
“We were pleased to host this informative seminar which provided a forum for meaningful dialogue and collaboration in the important areas of environment, health and safety. Sandals recognises the importance of integrating sustainable practices with health and safety measures to provide a holistic experience for our guests and employees,” said Vilma Smith, Environment, Health and Safety Manager, Sandals South Coast.
Meanwhile, Sandals South Coast Earth Guardian Abigail Spencer added that the session was effective as it energised both herself and her colleagues and encouraged them to think outside the box.
“This was a great experience for all of us. Not only did the training sessions refresh our memories, but it also increased our passion for playing our part in protecting the environment and ensuring our natural resources and communities are preserved for future generations,” Spencer said.
The seminar concluded with participants’ resolve to continue to foster partnerships and implement innovative strategies to further enhance EHS practices in the hospitality industry and local communities.
