HANOVER, Jamaica — Reality television star Safaree Samuels recently made a notable impact in the Pondside community of Hanover, where he grew up, by hosting a back-to-school treat for the children last Thursday.
The heartwarming event was organized by the Safaree Foundation in collaboration with Konnect Media Inc. and took place at the Pondside Primary and Infant School. The children were delighted to receive an array of school supplies, including bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essentials, ensuring they are well-equipped for the upcoming school year.
Safaree’s drive to support the young ones in his community was ignited after a recent visit to Waterhouse, Kingston, where he witnessed the challenging living conditions faced by some children. Compelled to take action, Safaree shared a video on his Instagram on August 12 announcing his plans to host the back-to-school treat, revealing his commitment to making a positive difference. “I’m on my heal the world journey!!! The first of many! Let’s make history,” he captioned the video while encouraging donations to support the cause.
Although the event was initially scheduled to take place in Waterhouse, a curfew imposed in the area necessitated a change of plans. Consequently, the event was relocated to Pondside, connecting Safaree back to his roots.
At the event, Safaree was joined by prominent figures including the Chief Executive Officer of Konnect Media, Kaylia Williams, Dancehall artiste Rumblood, and International Producer Johnny Blaze. Together, they brought smiles and hope to the children, showcasing a united front in support of education and community development.
Speaking to Observer Online, Safaree expressed his ongoing commitment to both Pondside and Waterhouse, stating he plans to return next month to distribute additional items such as shoes and clothing to the children, as he had promised.
Looking ahead, Safaree expressed his aspiration to transform the back-to-school treat into an annual event, continuously extending his support to the children and contributing to the well-being and development of his home community.
