Kingston, Jamaica – Spiritual advisor Nardo Smith, more popularly known as RT Boss, has filed a defamation lawsuit against dancehall star Spice over allegations reportedly made on her social media platform.
The lawsuit, filed in the Superior Court of Cobb County in Georgia, also lists Spice’s company, Spice Entertainment LLC, Monique Palmer, and Goat Throat Records LLC as defendants. The suit alleges libel, which is defined as a false and malicious defamation expressed in print, writing, pictures, or signs that injures a person’s reputation and exposes them to public hatred, contempt, or ridicule.
According to the lawsuit, the defendants’ actions caused Smith “severe emotional distress,” manifesting as insomnia, grief, depression, anxiety, and fear. The defendants are accused of publishing false and defamatory material about Smith, violating Georgia state laws.
The lawsuit claims that in May 2024, Spice used multiple online platforms to falsely accuse Smith of engaging in debasing acts and committing the crime of molestation against a minor. The suit further alleges that the defendants’ conduct was “extreme and outrageous” and “transcends all bounds of decency as to be regarded as atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized society.”
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Monique Palmer, an online personality, interviewed the alleged victim in November 2023 and knowingly allowed the false and defamatory statement to air on a podcast.
Smith is seeking compensatory, presumed, and punitive damages, as well as funds to cover his attorneys’ fees. The lawsuit was filed on February 14.
