The Couples Resorts Negril Charity Golf Tournament is back for its 15th staging at the Negril Hills course, with participants gearing up to raise funds for local charities in the western region. The event, which is expected to attract close to 70 local and overseas amateurs and professionals, aims to raise at least $1 million towards deserving causes.
In the previous edition of the tournament in 2022, over $1.4 million was raised for the Grange Hill Primary School and the Montego Bay Animal Haven. This year, director Glenn Lawrence is determined to continue supporting schools and institutions in the area, with a focus on providing much-needed assistance to those in need.
Former national champion Sean Morris and John Hayletts were the winners of the last tournament at Negril Hills, and they are expected to join the competition once again this year. The tournament’s main sponsor, C&W Business, is excited to support the event and contribute to its positive impact on the community.
Lawrence emphasized the importance of the tournament in bringing people together for a great cause and highlighted the significance of giving back to the community. He expressed his excitement for the return to Negril Hills course and looks forward to a competitive day of golf.
Despite the challenges of organizing the event after a brief hiatus, Lawrence is optimistic about the turnout and anticipates a successful tournament with the support of amateur players and local professionals. The tournament not only promotes the sport of golf but also raises funds for charitable organizations, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need in the western region.
