Slickianna Murder Case Rescheduled to October 24
ST JAMES, Jamaica – The ongoing legal proceedings against Rushawn Patterson, charged with the murder of social media influencer Aneika “Slickianna” Townsend, have faced another delay, with the case now slated to be heard on October 24. The decision to postpone was made on Thursday during a session at the St James Circuit Court—just a day ahead of the originally planned date, September 23.
The rescheduling comes amidst the Circuit Court’s temporary adjournment, scheduled to resume on October 22. However, the exact reasons behind the postponement remain undisclosed as of this report. Sources indicate that the court unexpectedly advanced all Friday cases to Thursday, resulting in the new date being set.
The delay follows the court’s previous adjournment on September 23, caused by pending postmortem and DNA reports related to Townsend’s tragic demise. Justice Bertram Morrison, overseeing the case, had initially provided an October 18 date to allow time for these documents to be prepared. With the new postponement, the files are anticipated to be completed by October 24, enabling the court to proceed to set a trial date.
Townsend’s body was found in the water at Reading, St James, on October 21, 2022. Investigations revealed that she traveled to Montego Bay from Kingston on October 20, where she met Patterson. The pair reportedly dined at a Hanover restaurant before heading to a guesthouse in St James. It is alleged that an argument ensued, leading to Patterson strangling Townsend and disposing of her body. Patterson later became a person of interest on October 22 and was apprehended at a Hanover guesthouse on November 2, after evading earlier deadlines to surrender to authorities.
The case continues to capture public attention, awaiting the legal proceedings that will unfold in the upcoming court date.
