Montego Bay, Jamaica — The organizers of Reggae Sumfest issued a statement on Saturday addressing the absence of four performers from Festival Night 1 of this year’s annual show, which took place on Friday.
Organizers cited “unforeseen issues” for the absence of Jada Kingdom, Valiant, and Marci Chin, while Kraff experienced an “unavoidable emergency.”
Organizers’ Statement:
“We understand that many of you came from various parishes and countries to see the full line-up, and we apologize to our patrons and sponsors for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have worked hard to ensure that all commitments are fulfilled to ensure the overall success of the festival.”
Highlight of the Night:
Despite these challenges, the festival delighted attendees with a surprise performance by superstar Miss Lauryn Hill, who took the stage alongside her sons, YG Marley and Zion Marley. This unexpected performance was well-received by the crowd of more than 18,000 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex.
Commitment to Excellence:
“The festival will remain true to our core values and the trust you all place in us. We are working diligently to maintain the exceptional entertainment experience that audiences around the world expect and deserve. Our goal is to remain the greatest reggae show on the planet and a shining beacon of excellence in the world of music festivals.”
Reggae Sumfest continues to uphold its reputation for providing top-tier entertainment, despite the occasional hurdles that come with organizing such a large-scale event.
