Jamaican shot putter, Rajindra Campbell, has been on a roll since his historic bronze medal win at the Olympic Games in Paris last month. The 28-year-old athlete recently set a new national record of 22.31m at the Ivan Ivancic Memorial in Zagreb, Croatia.
Campbell, who made history as the first Jamaican to win a medal in the shot put event at the Olympics, finished third at the meet behind American athletes Ryan Crouser and Payton Otterdahl.
During the competition, Campbell opened with a throw of 21.05m and followed up with a distance of 21.56m in round three. However, it was in round four that he truly made his mark by reaching a distance of 22.31m, breaking his own previous national record of 22.22m set in Madrid, Spain last year.
Campbell’s impressive performance in Zagreb showcases his determination and skill as he continues to excel in the shot put event. Jamaicans are proud of his achievements and will be eagerly following his future competitions as he aims for even greater heights in the sport.
