Three producers, Gego Lee Music, King Levels and Axios Records have combined their musical talents to release the song “Designer”, recorded by dancehall artiste Quada.
Designer was released last month.
Portmore resident Fabian “Gego” Lee, originally from Majesty Gardens in St Andrew, recently spoke to the Jamaica Observer about his work with Quada.
“You know, it just happened naturally. Me and Quada were at a seafood restaurant on the beach and we were dancing to the beat and he goes, ‘Gego, listen to the hits. Designer beats, designer beats.’ So I’m like, ‘Let’s do it!’ And he’s like, ‘Ready!’ So me and Skull from King Rebels Records went to the studio and recorded him and the rest is history,” Gego Lee said.
He added: “He’s a talented artist and knows how to bring a song to life.”
“Designer” is a fashion-based track that embodies the style and swag of dancehall culture and is targeted at patrons looking to attend major summer events such as The Best Weekend Ever, Dream Weekend and Reggae Sumfest.
Zigo Lee is known for his collaborations with young up-and-coming artists such as Sean Ice, 21 Row and Full Max, and he is excited to be a part of this project.
“I only recently started my own record label, so to be working with a big name artist like Kuada alongside my record label owners King Rebels and Axios is a huge accomplishment for me,” the producer said.
In February, Gego Lee released his debut project, Out a Focus rhythm.
Quada is best known for his hits “New Gyal Alert,” “Celebration,” “Best Friend,” “Hail” and “Pain.”
Two years ago, he received a BRIT certification for his song “Billions” featuring Popcaan, which is included on the silver-certified various artists compilation album “Top Boy: A Selection of Music Inspired” released by Warner Records UK.
