Clarednon, Jamaica — On Friday July 26,2024, a violent incident occurred on Inverness Drive when two gunmen targeted 22-year-old Matthew Maddan, a labourer, as he sat outside his mother’s shop. The assailants opened fire, hitting Maddan in the buttocks.
Constable A. Hamilton, who was nearby attending a church proceeding, heard the gunshots and went to investigate. Upon confronting the gunmen, Hamilton was also shot in the right side of his abdomen during the exchange of fire. The gunmen fled the scene on foot.
Both victims have been taken to May Pen Hospital for treatment. The police are currently searching for the suspects and investigating the incident.
