MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Authorities have identified the individual responsible for threatening Prime Minister Andrew Holness, his wife, and residents of Clarendon in a video circulated on social media. The suspect has been named as 21-year-old Garfield Ross of Bloomfield Street, Mandeville, Manchester.
The incident came to light after a video surfaced on social media, showing Ross wearing a mask and issuing threats against the Prime Minister and others. Following the video’s circulation, local law enforcement initiated an investigation to identify and locate the suspect.
On the morning of August 15, between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, a targeted raid was conducted at Ross’s residence. Reportedly, during the raid, Ross attempted to flee from the authorities and sustained injuries in the process. He was subsequently taken to a hospital in Manchester for treatment and has since been released. Ross is now under police custody and is subject to further investigation by the Manchester Proactive Investigation Unit.
Initial reports indicate that Ross may be experiencing mental health challenges, which could have contributed to his actions.
