St Mary, Jamaica – The police constable seen in a viral video physically assaulting a woman has been granted bail amounting to $300,000 with two sureties. The ruling was issued during his appearance at the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, August 22.
Under the bail conditions, the constable is required to report to the Annotto Bay police station every Saturday between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm. Additionally, he must surrender his travel documents, and a stop order has been implemented at all ports to prevent him from leaving the country.
The constable is scheduled to reappear in the St Mary Parish Court on September 4. Police sources have verified that he is affiliated with the St Mary Police.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, August 20, at the constable’s home in Enfield. It was during this time that the constable, who was with his pregnant girlfriend, encountered his ex-girlfriend who entered the premises, leading to a confrontation. The altercation escalated when the constable allegedly tried to remove his ex-girlfriend from the property, resulting in a physical struggle.
This case has drawn significant public attention due to the dissemination of the video capturing the assault. The constable faces wounding charges related to the incident.
