One of two suspects wanted in connection with a brutal triple murder that took place on King Street in Montego Bay, St James, on Tuesday has surrendered to police.
The man in custody is John Roach, who was also named as a suspect in another shooting in the same parish.
Roach and the other gunman are said to have exchanged gunfire with police when they responded to the scene of the triple homicide, and two firearms were reportedly seized after the melee.
The dead were 26-year-old LaShawn Antonio Williams, 17-year-old student Jaydon Verore Bennett and 62-year-old fisherman David West, all of King Street in the parish.
St James Police Station Commander, Superintendent Eron Samuel, said police were relentlessly pursuing the suspect and were pleased that Roach had handed himself in. He urged all other suspects involved in the murder to do the same.
We are happy that he turned himself in, and we are asking that all other suspects in matters, rather than have us pursue you, heed our warning and turn yourselves in,” Samuels said.
The suspect, upon hearing that he was to be transported to the St James police, we were told that he wet himself over the relentless pursuit that we had of him. We are just informing persons that when you are wanted by the police, we will not stop.”
Kassim Lewis, alias Borderline, is another person allegedly involved in Tuesday’s triple murder and he has been urged to follow in his colleagues’ footsteps and surrender himself to police.
Here in St James, we are committed to doing everything in our power to keep our citizens safe, and if that means relentlessly pursuing all suspected criminals and wanted individuals, then we will do so,” Samuels concluded.
