KINGSTON, Jamaica — JN Financial Group, the umbrella entity for financial services within the Jamaica National Group, is poised to revolutionize financial accessibility with the introduction of the ONE JN Passport. This new initiative aims to significantly boost financial inclusion across Jamaica, addressing the gaps identified by the Bank of Jamaica’s (BOJ) National Financial Inclusion and Demand Side Survey.
The BOJ’s survey revealed that around 23% of Jamaicans are unbanked and an additional 6.3% are underbanked, predominantly affecting low-income earners and residents of rural areas. The ONE JN Passport is designed to tackle these issues by improving access and convenience for financial services.
“We recognized this issue, and financial inclusion was at the core of the Passport Service’s creation,” said Claudine Allen, ONE JN Program Director. “This will significantly enhance access to financial services, allowing individuals to receive services more efficiently by transferring their data across JN Financial Group companies rather than relying on physical branches.”
Approved by the Bank of Jamaica, the ONE JN Passport is a cutting-edge application that streamlines the process of accessing JN Bank’s services. Users need only provide their personal information once to access a range of services, including unsecured loans and savings accounts.
“The Passport technology allows customers to update their personal records through a simple app, eliminating the need for branch visits,” Allen explained. “It’s not a banking app per se; rather, it facilitates quicker and easier access to our services and reduces the need for redundant paperwork.”
The app, which is available for download on both Android and iOS devices, and also accessible via a mobile site, enables users to:
- Open savings accounts in various currencies.
- Apply for unsecured loans.
- Seamlessly transition to services provided by other JN Financial Group companies, including JN Fund Managers, JN General Insurance, JN Life Insurance, JN Money, and JN Cayman.
Once users complete their initial onboarding with JN Bank, they will not need to resubmit their information when accessing services from other member companies. This streamlined process is expected to reduce paperwork, expedite service delivery, and cut costs for both organizations and customers.
“The ONE JN Passport’s biggest goal is to enhance our understanding of our customers and simplify their experience with us,” Allen noted. “By minimizing the hassle of repeated documentation, we’re enabling Jamaicans to focus more on their personal and financial growth.”
