The National Works Authority (NWA) is urging motorists to use extreme caution when passing through intersections where traffic lights are not working.
Several traffic lights on the island are out of service following the passage of Hurricane Beryl last week.
NWA communications and customer services manager Stephen Shaw said a technical team was carrying out a comprehensive assessment of traffic signals to identify any issues.
Shaw said preliminary investigations so far have shown that some of the traffic system’s electronic components were affected by the hurricane’s strong winds and heavy rains, and some traffic lights have also been taken out of service due to problems related to the power supply.
Meanwhile, as officials continue to make repairs, Shaw reminds drivers that no one has the right-of-way when the light is not working and that the intersection should be used the same way as an intersection without a signal.
As a result, all motorists are advised to exercise due caution while using these junctions/intersections, NWA said.
