An already successful year for Nigy Boy will reach new heights with his upcoming performance at Reggae Sumfest on July 20th at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, his hometown.
The 23-year-old artist gained prominence with his hit album “Continent,” produced by Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston. The album has garnered a wide fan base not only in Jamaica but also in the dancehall and reggae scenes in the United States, the Bahamas, and Guyana.
“It feels amazing to be playing an event as big as Reggae Sumfest in my hometown. As a Montego Bay native, I am honoured that my first major performance in Jamaica will be in the place where I grew up. I am grateful that the people who watched me grow up will be the first to see the talent and humanity that Montego Bay produces,” Nigy Boy expressed.
Nigy Boy visited Jamaica in February to promote “Continent,” including a stop at the Salvation Army for the Blind in Montego Bay, where he was once a student. Three months later, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Stony Brook University in New York, USA. Despite being visually impaired, he has achieved significant milestones in both his academic and musical careers.
“Work-wise, the last six months have been a time of growth and development in my career. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in such a short space of time and grateful for all the opportunities that have helped me get to this point,” he said.
