Manchester, Jamaica — Police have imposed a nighttime curfew in three areas of Manchester after a recent surge in nighttime crimes, including robberies and murders.
The curfew, which began at 6pm on Saturday and is set to end at 6pm on Monday, affects the communities of Land Settlement, Comfort, and Broadleaf. These areas have been experiencing power outages, which have contributed to the recent criminal activities.
The curfew follows the murder of Land Settlement car dealer Omar Powell last week and the theft of three vehicles from his home.
Curfew Details:
- Start Time: 6pm Saturday
- End Time: 6pm Monday
- Affected Areas: Land Settlement, Comfort, Broadleaf
During curfew hours, all individuals within the curfew perimeter must stay on their premises unless they have written authorization from the ground commander. This measure aims to curb the recent wave of criminal activities and restore safety to the affected communities.
