Kingston, Jamaica — As Jamaica’s young athletes gear up for the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru, Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sports, has extended her heartfelt best wishes to the delegation.

In a statement issued on August 26, 2024, Minister Grange emphasized the importance of this opportunity for the athletes, urging them to relish the experience of representing Jamaica on the international stage. “Enjoy the experience of representing Jamaica on the world stage,” she said, stressing that the nation is already immensely proud of their accomplishment simply in qualifying for the championships.

Minister Grange’s message was filled with confidence in the athletes’ capabilities. She assured them that doing their best is all that is expected. “Your best will be good enough,” she affirmed, reinforcing her belief in their potential.

Furthermore, Minister Grange called on Jamaicans to rally behind not just the athletes, but also the coaches and officials traveling with them. She urged the nation to shower them with love and positive energy. She also highlighted the impact of social media, advising the public to be cautious of the effects that their online comments could have on these young athletes.

Minister Grange’s encouragement comes as these young sportsmen and sportswomen prepare to showcase their talents and hard work in Lima, a testament to their dedication and the support they have received from their home country.
