MANCHESTER, Jamaica — In a recent investigation concerning threats made against Prime Minister Andrew Holness, his wife, and the residents of Clarendon, police have identified a 20-year-old mental health patient as the primary suspect. This identification follows a viral social media video in which the threats were made in the aftermath of a mass shooting on Cherry Tree Lane, Clarendon, that occurred on Sunday.
According to a police source who spoke to Observer Online, the suspect is currently under police guard at a hospital in Manchester. The individual has a documented history of making similar threats on social media platforms.
The police source elaborated, stating, “He has a history of making similar threats, but he has a mental situation… He made threats years ago that affected even a school in the United States.” This history indicates a concerning pattern of threatening behavior.
In 2022, authorities questioned the suspect after he made a threat on the eve of the start of the academic year, pointing towards a recurring issue.
The situation has prompted a heightened level of scrutiny and precaution, especially given the individual’s past actions and the potential risks involved. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure the safety of all parties involved and to understand the full extent of the threats made.
