Blue Vinyl Makes Much-Anticipated Return to the Track
Former Jamaica 2000 Guineas and St Leger winner, Blue Vinyl, is set to make his much-anticipated return to the track after an 11-month hiatus. The talented runner will be competing in today’s $1.25-million Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup at Caymanas Park, where he will face 12 rivals in an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five furlongs (1,000m) straight.
Blue Vinyl’s last race was on November 11, 2023, where he finished second in the Jamaica Cup behind the exceptional Atomica, who is a two-time Horse of the Year. Despite the long break and facing younger and fitter opponents, Blue Vinyl’s class and talent make him a formidable contender in today’s race.
Although Blue Vinyl may need the run and typically prefers longer distances, his exceptional talent and experience on the track give him a competitive edge. In his 22-start career, Blue Vinyl has only raced once over the straight course, finishing fourth in his debut outing. However, with his proven track record, he is considered the one to beat in today’s race.
The Nigel B Nunes Memorial Cup is scheduled as the ninth and final event on the card with a post time of 5:05 pm, following the first race at noon. Blue Vinyl will be up against a talented quintet of challengers, including Freedom Street, Joy Is Golden, Press Conference, KP Choice, and A Gift From Ben, who all possess the skill and speed to push Blue Vinyl to his limits.
As fans eagerly anticipate Blue Vinyl’s return to the track, there are also several other exciting races to watch throughout the day. From the talented field in Race 1 to the fierce competition in Race 9, Caymanas Park promises a day of thrilling horse racing action for all enthusiasts.
Stay tuned as Blue Vinyl looks to make a statement in his comeback race, facing tough competition and aiming for victory once again on the track.
