MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man known only as “Davey” was shot and killed in Caledonia Court Square, Mandeville, on Wednesday night.
Preliminary reports indicate that an armed assailant entered the square shortly before 11 p.m. and opened fire near a bar. The victim reportedly collapsed on the stairs leading to the square’s second floor following the shooting.
The incident caused chaos, with patrons at several bars fleeing in panic as gunshots rang out. The area has a history of violence, and this recent shooting adds to the ongoing concerns about safety in Manchester.
In the past two weeks, Manchester has witnessed a surge in violent crime, including five murders, one of which was a double murder.
