KINGSTON, Jamaica— A tense encounter on Eureka Road has culminated in the apprehension of a 21-year-old man, Devaughno Frazer, following a dramatic shootout with police on Wednesday, August 14. Frazer, also known as ‘DV’ from Fourth Avenue, Kingston 3, faces multiple charges under the Firearms Act, including assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and malicious destruction of property.
According to reports from the Half Way Tree Police, the incident occurred around 11:45 pm when a police team patrolling the area spotted Frazer and another man aboard a motorcycle. Upon seeing the police, it is alleged that Frazer and his accomplice opened fire in an attempt to flee the scene.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the pair’s motorcycle crashed, trapping Frazer beneath the vehicle, while his accomplice managed to escape. A subsequent search by the police resulted in the discovery of a .38 special revolver containing six cartridges found nearby.
Frazer was immediately taken into custody and has since been formally charged. Authorities reveal that a court date for Frazer has not yet been established.
Meanwhile, police are actively pursuing Frazer’s unidentified accomplice, who remains at large.
