St. Elizabeth, Jamaica — Police have charged Harvel Grant, a 25-year-old handyman from the Reading area of Lacovia, after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home in the Lacovia Housing Scheme on Tuesday, July 9, and attempted to rape her at knifepoint.
Grant faces charges of theft, assault with intent to commit rape, and unlawful wounding. He is accused of unlawfully entering the woman’s residence around 3:27 a.m. with a knife, demanding sexual favors while holding the weapon to her throat.
A violent struggle reportedly ensued, during which Grant inflicted several wounds on the victim before fleeing the scene. The police were promptly notified, and an investigation was launched.
Grant was apprehended on Friday, July 19, and has since been charged. The trial date for the case is currently being scheduled.
