In a significant development, five individuals have been formally charged in connection with a massive $12-billion cocaine bust in Havendale, St Andrew. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey, who heads the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Crime and Security Portfolio, made the announcement on Monday.
The individuals charged in the case are:
- Clive Roy Davis, 57
- Collin Ricketts, 58
- George Sterling, 51
- Clayton Peart, 42
- Junior Haldane, 72
The charges include possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, and trafficking in cocaine. According to DCP Bailey, all five suspects were interviewed in the presence of their legal representatives and will remain in police custody while their court dates are being finalized.
The drug bust, which took place on August 6, is among the largest cocaine seizures in Jamaica’s history, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Bailey highlighted that the JCF is committed to collaborating with international and regional law enforcement agencies to pursue additional leads, aiming to dismantle other criminal networks linked to illegal drug activities.
So far this year, the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division has seized a substantial amount of illegal contraband, including:
- 86 illegal firearms
- 1,154 rounds of ammunition
- 20,074 kilograms of marijuana
- Approximately 67 kilograms of cocaine
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine and other narcotics, excluding the latest bust, surpasses $2 million.
The JCF’s recent actions underscore its resolve in combating the illegal drug trade and associated criminal activities, ensuring greater security and safety for the nation.
