The Poor Relief Department of the St Ann Municipal Corporation in Ocho Rios recently honored the Live Wyya Band for their continued contribution to the homeless and mentally challenged. The band performed for the indigent on October 10, World Homeless Day, at the Ocho Rios Transport Centre. Jennifer Brown Cunningham, CEO of the Poor Relief Department, presented a plaque of appreciation to band members Carl Edwards and Jerome Smickle during the event.
This is the second year in a row that Live Wyya has performed for the indigent in partnership with the Poor Relief Department. Carl Edwards, the band’s leader and bass guitarist, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that it is a tremendous feeling to be acknowledged for their efforts in giving back to the community. The plaque presented to the band recognizes and appreciates their ongoing support for the homeless and mentally challenged individuals in the area.
Live Wyya first collaborated with the Poor Relief Department last year with a show at the agency’s Drop-In Centre, which serves those in need in Ocho Rios and surrounding areas. The band, formed in 1999 by Carl Edwards and drummer Arnold Bolt, has been committed to using their music to make a positive impact in their community. The band’s dedication to giving back to society and working with those in need has been well-received and appreciated by the community.
Live Wyya, consisting of Carl Edwards, Jerome Smickle, Tristan Richards, Stephan Foster, and Ian “Beezy” Coleman, continues to use their musical talents to uplift and support those in need. Their partnership with the Poor Relief Department showcases their commitment to making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. This recognition from the St Ann Municipal Corporation’s Poor Relief Department is a testament to their meaningful contributions to the community and their dedication to helping those in need.
