The world was shocked by the tragic death of pop star Liam Payne last week. Initial toxicology reports have revealed a troubling and heartbreaking truth – Payne had multiple drugs, including crack cocaine and methamphetamine, in his system at the time of his death.
The British singer, known for his time in the popular group One Direction, fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires at the age of 31. The toxicology reports also revealed the presence of a cocktail of drugs known as “pink cocaine” containing methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA, as well as crack cocaine and benzodiazepine.
It is reported that an improvised aluminum pipe used for ingesting drugs was found in the hotel room where Payne was staying. He had been struggling with substance abuse and the pressures of fame for some time, as he openly discussed in the past.
Post-mortem results indicated that Payne was alone at the time of his fall and was going through a period of substance abuse. Prosecutors stated that he suffered from multiple traumas and internal and external hemorrhaging as a result of the fall.
Images released by the Clarin newspaper showed the interior of Payne’s room with white powder visible on a table, along with a piece of aluminum foil and a lighter. A broken television screen was also captured in the photos.
Authorities have interviewed a hotel employee who is suspected of providing Payne with drugs on the day of his death, although no arrests or charges have been made at this time.
