KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has announced that it is currently conducting the necessary assessments to restore power supplies to those who lost power during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
On Wednesday, power companies reported that at least 65% of their customers were without electricity.
In a post on its official social media pages on Thursday morning, JPS said it was working to restore connections as quickly as possible and asked customers to be patient while it carried out necessary repair work.
“In order to get your power back to you at the source, we need to conduct a thorough damage assessment to pinpoint the location of the problem, which could be to the mains and could be miles away from where you are,” the company said in a statement. “Our teams are currently assessing the damage and will complete any necessary repairs so we can restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” the company said.
