Kingston, Jamaica – July 29, 2024 — The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has identified the soldier found deceased on Palisadoes Main Road in Kingston on Tuesday morning as Corporal Sekou Meder. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
In a statement, JDF Commander Major Kayson Gansel expressed the force’s deep sorrow over the incident. “The entire force is deeply saddened by this tragic event. We are fully cooperating with the police investigation and our immediate focus is on supporting Corporal Meder’s family and those close to him,” Major Gansel said.
He also called on the media and the public to respect the privacy of the affected families and soldiers during this sensitive time. “We urge everyone to be mindful of the nature of this incident and to allow the investigation to proceed without further intrusion,” Gansel added.
The investigation into Corporal Meder’s death is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full details surrounding the case.
