Jamaican police officer’s 23-year-old son killed in Toronto shooting

TORONTO, Canada — A 23-year-old man believed to be the son of a Jamaica Constabulary officer has died from his injuries after multiple gunshots were fired at a housing complex in the Shawnee Park neighbourhood of North York in Toronto, Canada.

The murder happened just before 3 a.m. Thursday on Cherokee Boulevard, at the intersection of Victoria Park and Finch Avenue, after multiple residents in the area reported hearing gunshots, Toronto police said.

Toronto Emergency Medical Services said they were called to the scene and rushed one adult to hospital with serious injuries.

Police later confirmed the victim, 23-year-old Marcel Bryan, was pronounced dead at hospital.

The homicide unit has now taken over the investigation.

Toronto police investigators said the shooting was targeted, with multiple shots fired and two suspects then aiming their guns at a second male victim.

There is no information so far about the suspect.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact investigators.
