KINGSTON, JAMAICA — The Jamaica Simulated Racing Association (JSRA) is setting its sights on representing Jamaica at the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Motorsport Games 2024, scheduled to take place in Valencia, Spain from October 23rd to 27th.
JSRA president Steven Stewart expressed excitement about the opportunity to showcase Jamaican talent on a global stage. “Given the popularity of sim racing in Jamaica and the support from the JSRA, we believe this is a great opportunity to present our local talent to a broader and more influential audience,” Stewart said.
To select participants for the esports division of the FIA Motorsport Games, the JSRA will host two national qualifying events:
- Esports GT Qualifying Event – August 4th
- Platform: Assetto Corsa Competizione
- Open to all Jamaican citizens aged 16 and above.
- Esports F4 Qualifying Event – August 10th
- Platform: iRacing
- Also open to Jamaican citizens aged 16 and above.
Both events are free to enter, but participants must have access to the required gaming platforms and equipment. For Esports GT, competitors need Assetto Corsa Competizione, and for Esports F4, iRacing is required. Both events are PC-based and require steering wheel and pedal controls. Applicants must also be prepared to travel internationally.
The deadline for entries is the day before each qualifying event. Participants may enter both national qualifying events.
The FIA Motorsport Games, launched in 2019 through a partnership between the FIA and the SRO Motorsport Group, brings together national sporting organizations for a series of motorsport events, including both real and virtual racing. The esports category is one of the core gaming disciplines featured in the games.
Stewart added, “The winner of our national qualifying events will have the chance to represent Jamaica at the FIA Motorsport Games and demonstrate their skills to a global audience. We are actively seeking sponsorship partners to support the creation of a Jamaican sim racing team for this prestigious event.”
