LIMA, Peru—August 27, 2024—Jamaica’s mixed 4x400m relay team has secured a spot in the finals at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships, held at the chilly Estadio Atlético de la Videna in Lima, Peru. The team, which consists of Demarco Bennett, Nastassia Fletcher, Marchino Rose, and Alliah Baker, clocked in a strong 3:24.77 to finish second in their heat. This performance guaranteed them an automatic berth in the finals, set for 7:05 PM.
The Jamaican team performed admirably in the qualifier, trailing just behind Germany, who led the heat with a time of 3:24.10. Despite the challenging conditions, including the cold weather, the team managed to pull through with a commendable effort.
David Riley, the Technical Leader for the Jamaican team, hinted at the possibility of making changes to the lineup for the finals. Riley stated that the final decision regarding any changes would be made closer to the race time.
