NEGRIL, WESTMORELAND, JAMAICA — The identities of three of the four men killed in a shootout with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in Negril Square on Friday have been released.
The deceased are:
- Nikkari Delevante, 34, from Waterford, Portmore, St. Catherine. Delevante was out on $200,000 bail for the shooting death of a police inspector in Old Harbour last year and was also charged with robbing an ATM.
- Kaval Smith, 37, from the Cave area of Westmoreland.
- Anker Vincent Forrest, 29, from the Geneva area of Grange Hill.
A fourth man, who has not yet been identified, was also killed in the clash.
Police reported that six people were detained following the incident, including one man from Greenvale, Manchester, who was shot and injured during the confrontation.
The police operation, which occurred between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., involved intercepting several vehicles based on intelligence. During the clash, police seized:
- Two M16 assault rifles
- One AK47 assault rifle
- Two pistols
- One revolver
- 50 rounds of 7.62-caliber ammunition
- 65 rounds of 5.56-caliber ammunition
- 45 rounds of 9mm-caliber ammunition
- Five rounds of .38-caliber ammunition
- Various additional rounds and magazines for the firearms
No police officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
