A director of the Integrity Commission was shot and injured in the car park of the commission’s offices in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Thursday morning.
Chair of the Integrity Commission (IC) and former judge, Seymour Panton, has expressed disappointment at the lack of an update from police on the shooting and robbery of one of its members last September.
The commission’s anti-corruption director, Ryan Evans, was shot and injured on his way to work on September 21 in what police said was a robbery. The attack took place in the car park of the commission’s New Kingston offices.
Panton addressed the issue in the IC’s 2023/24 annual report, published on Tuesday.
“One of the board members was shot and robbed. The case remains open. I believe an investigation is ongoing, but neither the board member nor the board have received any updates since the incident,” Panton said.
Panton added: “That this incident occurred in the New Kingston CBD, where there are no zinc fences, no bushes and barely any side streets, yet the perpetrator was able to disappear without a trace in the bright morning light, should be of great concern to police.”
