Trelawny, Jamaica – The Harmony Community Club of Bounty Hall, Trelawny, hosted a delightful back-to-school treat and fun day for local children, transforming the community centre into a hub of excitement and joy. This enchanting event marked the first major project for the club, aiming to foster community spirit and support local youth.
Scores of children attended the event, where they were showered with school supplies, enjoyed delicious refreshments, and engaged in entertaining rides and activities throughout the day. The well-organized affair saw contributions from club members, including individuals from the Diaspora, who were instrumental in the recent renovations of the community center and the adjacent playing field.
A Commitment to Community Development
Linton Brady, an executive member of the Harmony Community Club, emphasized the club’s commitment to community enhancement. “We are going to try to do it as an annual project. Next year we are trying to put on a ball. But the general thing is to stage events to generate funds to help the community and to help the children,” Brady stated.
Brady highlighted the broader vision of the club, which includes ambitious plans for developing local facilities. “We are trying to control the community center and the playing field so that we plan in the future to establish stands, put in lights, and so on. It is total development so this is just the start of greater things to come,” he added.
Reviving Bounty Hall’s Sporting Legacy
In addition to organizing annual treat events, the Harmony Community Club aims to revive Bounty Hall’s storied sporting heritage. The club has set its sights on establishing a football and cricket academy in the community, nurturing local talent and aiming to return the club to its former glory when Bounty Hall produced national representatives.
Brady elaborated on this goal: “We used to produce a number of national players but we haven’t done so for the past couple of years because we have the brain drain, so we are trying to develop that.”
A Bright Future Ahead
The festivities not only provided immediate joy and support for the children of Bounty Hall but also underscored the Harmony Community Club’s dedication to long-term community development. With vibrant plans on the horizon, including hosting a ball and developing sports facilities, the club is poised to become a cornerstone of positive change and growth in Trelawny.
As the event concluded, it was clear that this back-to-school treat was just the beginning of a brighter future for Bounty Hall, driven by the passion and commitment of the Harmony Community Club and its dedicated members.
