Petrojam Announces Drop in Fuel Prices for Jamaican Consumers
Kingston, Jamaica — October 23, 2024
In a welcome respite for Jamaican motorists, Petrojam, the country’s leading petroleum refiner, announced sizeable reductions in fuel prices, set to take effect this Thursday, October 24. The decision comes in response to changes in ex-refinery costs, which are expected to ease financial pressures on consumers across the island.
Both grades of gasoline will see a price decrease of $3.06 per litre. As a result, 90-octane gasoline will now be priced at $173.06 per litre, while 87-octane will be available at $164.03 per litre. This reduction marks a significant adjustment aimed at bringing relief at the pumps.
Similarly, automotive diesel fuel and ultra-low sulphur diesel are both set to decrease by $3.06 per litre. With the adjustment, automotive diesel will be retailed at $162.62 per litre, and ultra-low sulphur diesel will be priced at $170.55 per litre.
Kerosene will now be available to consumers at $153.02 per litre, following a $3.06 per litre reduction. The cutback in prices extends to liquefied petroleum gas products as well: propane liquid petroleum will see a minor decrease of $0.75, pricing it at $72.97 per litre, while butane liquid petroleum will drop by $3.06, now available at $81.48 per litre.
It is important to note that these prices are reflective of the ex-refinery costs, and marketing companies, as well as retailers, will append their respective mark-ups. Nonetheless, the move is expected to provide noticeable savings for consumers amidst fluctuating global oil markets.
