There’s no disputing the fact that Kingston’s nightlife is pretty amazing, and each year we’re keen to unearth some relatively new spots as well as check out what’s going on at the more established ones.
A recent Friday night bar crawl began at RawBar Restaurant & Lounge Ltd on Barbican Road. Opened less than a year ago on 26 October last year, RawBar is a favourite spot of Food Awards judge O’Neill Johnson. It did not disappoint – everything was inviting, from the cocktails, to the conviviality of the team led by Sule Lynch, to the laid back atmosphere with guest Philip “PP” Palmer manning the turntables. What really surprised me was how good the food was – but then I discovered that Dawn Woodstock, formerly of the popular Manor Deli, is a partner, along with Dwight Clark, one of the protégés of the late culinary stalwart Norma Shirley.
The only drawback is parking, but patrons don’t mind and park across the road.
Our suggestion is to come early to grab the best seats in the venue and enjoy some people watching and the city lights.
The prices and comforting bar food will keep you coming back.
