France Outclass Reggae Girlz 3-0 in Friendly Match
In a dominating performance, the French women’s national team outclassed Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz in a friendly international match, winning 3-0 at the Stade Auguste Bonal in Montbéliard, France.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia, where they played to a 0-0 draw. However, this time around, France asserted their superiority on the field, showcasing their skills and experience.
Unfortunately for the Jamaican team, key player Drew Spencer was unavailable due to an injury sustained in training the day before the match. This absence was felt as France, ranked 10th in the world, took full advantage of the gaps in the Jamaican defense.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute when Clara Mateo capitalized on a missed clearance by Chantelle Swaby, leaving goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer with no chance to save. Wendie Renard extended France’s lead to 2-0 in the 39th minute with a well-placed header, taking advantage of the lack of marking.
The final blow for Jamaica came in the 48th minute when Sandy Baltimore scored after another failed clearance by Tiffany Cameron, sealing the victory for France.
The French team’s dominance in all facets of the game highlighted the gap in rankings between the two teams, with France currently sitting 32 places above Jamaica in the world rankings.
Despite the loss, the Reggae Girlz will look to regroup and learn from this experience as they continue to strive for improvement and success on the international stage.
