In a deeply troubling sequence of events, former Reggae Boyz football player Jorginho James is slated to appear in a Texas court in October following allegations that he assaulted his wife, Crystal James, a second time. This latest incident reportedly occurred while James was out on bond for an initial assault on his wife.
A viral video has emerged, purportedly showing the 30-year-old James delivering a series of punches to his wife while their young daughter attempts to intervene. The disturbing footage shows James exiting the building, with his daughter chasing after him. The alleged attack took place on August 30 at their daughter’s daycare center in Friendswood, Texas.
Crystal James purportedly sustained severe injuries, including a concussion, a broken hand, and a broken finger. Additionally, her face, back, and arms were reportedly swollen from the assault. Following this incident, James was arrested on August 31 and charged with violating protective order or bond conditions as well as assault. Since March, he has been required to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of his bond.
Jorginho James made his senior debut for the Jamaican national team at the young age of 17 while attending Kingston College in 2012. Over the years, he has represented Harbour View in Jamaica’s local premier league and had various short stints at several international clubs, including a spell with the Houston Dynamos. Currently, he is reportedly serving as a coach for a football academy.
The video of the alleged assault has gained significant traction on social media platforms, amplifying public outcry. In the video, a woman, presumed to be Crystal James, is heard questioning: “What do you do when you get an automated call that your husband – who has already assaulted you – is out on bond again?”
“If anything happens to me, it was him. I need help,” she continued, showing CCTV footage of James allegedly punching her multiple times. “He has a lot of people helping him because they don’t know how bad the abuse is. If I don’t speak up, something is going to happen to me. I am very much afraid.”
James had already been charged in March 2024 with assaulting a family member, and that case is currently before the Harris County District Court in Houston. A protection order had been put in place following that initial assault.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the football community and the public alike remain in shock and dismay at these allegations, eagerly awaiting justice for Crystal James and her family.
